Nurses and volunteers from 3 Valleys Health Primary Care Network celebrated International Nurses Day at the Covid vaccination clinic, Somer Centre Midsomer Norton this week.
They took time between clinics to mark the special occasion and think about why it’s so important to celebrate the fantastic work all of our nurses do.
Liz Hersch, Clinical Director, 3 Valleys Primary Care Network said: “Our practice nursing teams are an incredible and much valued resource. They care for hundreds of patients every year in many different ways from chronic disease management and skin care to minor illness and vaccinations. Without our nurses we could not have delivered the most successful flu vaccine campaign ever in 2020 and already given over 30,000 Covid vaccines to our most vulnerable patients. This year our nurses will be offering group consultations for our diabetic patients which is a new, evidence-based sustainable way to deliver excellent personalised care.”
Kayley Deacon-Hayes, Care Coordinator, Elm Hayes surgery said: “It’s great to celebrate International Nurses Day. Nurses really are amazing people and they work so hard.”
Beth Evans, retired nurse volunteering at the Somer Centre Covid clinic said:
“Nurses are amazing people who do so much to help so many people. Being a nurse is a vocation and I’ve been really humbled and proud to help out with the Covid vaccination drive.”
